  • Upon needing to let those know who don't Facebook . . .

    Dear Friends,

I am remiss in letting you all know so late, but I am getting married March 21!!  Will proposed the night before Thanksgiving, and we are very excited.  So now I am in the midst of preparations, which are keeping me pretty busy.  I never realized all that needed to be done before I started doing it myself.

Anywho, we're getting married in Savannah at our church, Independent Presbyterian, which is in historic downtown Savannah.  It's going to be really beautiful, very traditional, and very long, as reformed Presby weddings are considered a church service, complete with hymns and a sermon. : )

However, to that I say, good.  I'm only having one wedding, so let's make it as long as possible. : )

So, I just wanted to let you all know!!

  • Upon a slapdash on the last day of my lazing about town . . .

No, I'm not dead.  No, I'm not keeping my life hidden.  No, I haven't forgotten you all.

    Here are some random bits:

    1.  Tomorrow I start my new job.  It's the one I wanted, and they are paying me more than I thought they would, which is very exciting.  God is so gracious to me.  Today is my last day of just hanging around.

    2.  Savannah is beautiful this time of year.  It's warm, but not too hot--as long as you dress appropriately.  Last Sunday night, Will and I sat outside on his front porch for a long time and not one bug bit me.  This is a good thing.

    3.  I can't wait until I can go shopping (within very much reason) for some new spring clothes.  I need them desperately.  Being poor sucks. : )

    4.  Did anyone else go see Expelled:  No Intelligence Allowed?  A group of us went to see it last Monday.  It was really compelling, and I'm shocked it was allowed into theaters, actually.

    5.  Right now I'm reading the book A Year in Provence.  It makes me want to eat--a lot.

    6.  I went for my first drug test today.  It was for my new job.  I've never had to have one before, and I found it extremely humbling standing there watching the woman pour my urine into a little tube.  Did you know that you can't flush the toilet or wash your hands until you've left the restroom when you get these things done?  They say it could invalidate your test.

    7.  Will and I are wonderful!!  He is the best thing that has ever happened to me besides being chosen by God for salvation.  I'm going to have to do a post with the whole story to catch you up.

Okay, that's all I have for now.

    Jillian out.

  • Upon trying to keep up with everything . . .

Sheeeeeesh.  Get off my back.  : )

Here is a brief update on all the stuff:

I am still unemployed.  I am searching diligently, and praying fervently.  I am taking a teaching certification test for music this Saturday.  I hope to obtain one of the many public school music teaching positions available in the Savannah/Chatham County public school system.  I'm also applying for office jobs as at this point I am willing to take just about anything that will pay me enough to pay the bills.  If you would keep me in your prayers for that, I would be very grateful.

With regards to more pleasant topics, Will and I are doing very well.  We will have been together two months as of this weekend.  It gets better and better every day.

Well, those are the big things going on right now.  I'll update again later.

  • Upon missing home . . .

I am in Memphis for Thanksgiving, but I really miss Savannah.  Those new little roots are straining this week.

I joined the church the weekend before this past one.  I am a card-carrying Presbyterian now, as Todd put it.  I LOVE my church.  Love it, love it, love it.  Can't wait to get there every week.

I have a wonderful and very Crest-roomish group of friends now.  We refer to ourselves as the Black Sheep Squadron.  I really miss them, too.

I have a second job starting after the beginning of the year.  It is at a new shop opening downtown.  I am going to be a make-up artist, which is one of the top things I would want to do.  I'm pretty excited about it.

My new best friend Hillary was in a home-schooling group in Ohio with the Hutchinses. We figured out that connection a few weeks ago.

Well, I just wanted to give a brief update.  I realized it has been a month since I last posted.

    Have a great Thanksgiving!

  • Upon a Saturday Evening Post . . .

Okay, I have typed out about four beginnings to this entry, only to backspace them all away.

I had a busy week this week.  I gave my class about six tests; went to choral society rehearsal; helped a new friend demolish/clean/de-mold his new fixer-upper; tried out the singles' Bible study, only to be convinced that the young marrieds' is better; had a covert cafe meeting with some friends; stayed out very late, and taught Friday's class with three hours of sleep; cleaned my house, went grocery shopping, fixed dinner, did some laundry, and am now posting.

I am pretty tired right about now.

Some of the things above probably need some explaining to get the full flavor of my experience, but now that I've started this, I'm too tired to finish it.

    Later . . .

Hey Jill! Did Andy tell you that we are naming our little girl Gillian? It's not spelled the same, but at least you know that we think your name sounds gorgeous. Just thought you might want to know.
